Virtual School Counselor Office

Here is a picture of the office I designed.

When I was thinking about how to design my virtual office, I knew I wanted to offer many types of seating.  If I am conducting a formal meeting with parents and we need a desk to write on, they could sit in the office chairs.  If I were counseling students, I would want them to feel comfortable, so I think the armchairs would provide that.  If a student was having a really rough day, they could use the chaise to lie back in while they talked.  I could use the TV screen to project information, for example documents for a 504 plan, so it would easily be seen by all the members of the team.  I think artwork in a space is always nice, and the shelves provide storage and display personal items that may spark conversation with students.  Some things I would add would be more artwork and things to sit on the coffee table for students to fidget with.  I know that sometimes students feel the need to do something with their hands, so I would provide a couple of items for that purpose.

Hello.  My name is Summer and I'm currently attending Walden University.  I'm in the MS in School Counseling program, and have (almost) completed my first course in the program.  I look forward to the next couple of years of studying, learning, and reaching my goal of becoming a licensed school counselor.
